Why visit Liepāja
Liepāja feels different from both Riga and Latvia’s smaller resort towns. The centre combines market squares, churches, brick and timber architecture and the Great Amber concert hall, while Seaside Park opens onto a wide beach.
Karosta adds a separate story of imperial and Soviet military history, forts, the Naval Cathedral and an unusual planned district. It should be visited with context and respect, not treated as an abandoned-theme-park detour.

Two full days give Liepāja a sensible first shape: one for the centre, market, beach and Seaside Park; one for Karosta and any museum, concert or longer coastal walk. A single day requires choosing between a deeper city visit and a substantial Karosta detour.
