Sources and editorial policy

The purpose of LatviaLinks is to help a reader choose places, build a workable route and understand the setting of a trip. Pages favour specific names, realistic connections and useful distinctions over promotional claims.

A destination guide is not a live timetable or booking service. Opening hours, fares, event programmes, construction work and transport schedules can change after a page is reviewed, so the relevant operator or institution remains the final source for a dated decision.

National and municipal institutions, attraction operators, museums, transport operators, official statistics, universities and recognised cultural organisations are prioritised. The national tourism portal is useful for broad visitor context, while operator pages are preferred for practical details about a particular service or place.

Secondary sources may help identify a topic or explain how travellers describe it, but they do not replace a suitable primary source for a factual claim. Anonymous summaries and copied travel lists are not treated as evidence.

The published date records when a guide first became public. The reviewed date records the most recent substantive check of its facts, sources or traveller guidance. A copyright-year change or a purely visual adjustment does not justify a new editorial review date.

Review dates are also used in the site map only when they reflect a meaningful update. This keeps the visible page, structured data and crawl information aligned.

Stable context and changing details are treated differently. Geography, the role of a museum collection or the broad character of a regional route may remain useful for a long time. Prices, timetables, seasonal access and event dates need a dated source and a clear prompt to check the provider.

If reliable sources disagree, the page avoids presenting one version as settled without explanation. If a claim cannot be supported at publication time, it is removed or qualified.

LatviaLinks does not accept a listing as true because a place describes itself that way. Editorial wording is chosen independently, and commercial relationships do not determine factual conclusions or rankings.

Clear corrections are made when a reliable source shows that published information is wrong or outdated. A corrected page receives a new reviewed date when the change is substantive.
